West Florida's Ra'veion Hargrove runs down the field during action against Mississippi College on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Pen Air Field at the University of West Florida. West Florida defeated Mississippi College 45-17.

“We told our guys this week that this is the No. 1 scoring defense in the conference,” Argos head coach Pete Shinnick said. “They’ve always been competitive and there’s a reason they’re the No. 1 scoring defense in the conference. They’ve forced seven punts a game so offensively, we’ve got to be dialed in.”

This game will be about whether the Argos offense can get the better of the Tigers strong defense or let it get the best of them. They also still sit second in the GSC rankings behind No. 7 Delta State.

Win in the trenches

Mississippi College quarterback John Henry White is brought down by the West Florida defense during action against Mississippi College on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Pen Air Field at the University of West Florida. West Florida defeated Mississippi College 45-17.

The Argos must win going forward offensively. They gave up the third-fewest sacks in the conference, but haven’t faced such a pass rush all season. The Tigers don’t give up a ton of yards rushing, but they struggle against opposing offenses.

If the Argos are able to pass block well, then that can spark their running game, which could struggle early.
